Hi! I'm new in London, and I was thinking about buying a cheap marker and googles and going to train with you, if you want. I have played paintball only once with friends and it was fun but also kind of messy because it was every man for himself, and that is the reason why I'd like to play with people who gives a little more importance to team work.
My idea at the moment is to buy a starter pack with a second-hand BT-4 and brand new accesories and googles. Do you have any suggestions, or do you think of something else that I could need?
Thank you.

Hi and welcome A BT 4 is ok if your going to play in the woods with rec players but I think you'll find its not really up to it if you want to play tournament (sup air) paintball, I turned up with a tippman A5 first time I played with these guys and I really struggled to keep up. What you want is something like a proto slg its cheap and can hold its own. Most of the team have ego's and those of us who know better have DM's for a 2 year old second hand one of those you would be looking at around £300 just for the marker. Air bottles are around £80-£90 for a second one £120-£180 new loaders, most of us use dye rotors £90 second hand (if your lucky to find one) £120 new goggles proto make a cheap one for less then £20, otherwise anything up to £90, depends what you find fits you best. If your unsure what to get just yet you can hire the full kit for an extra £20 from the site we play at, that would give you feel for the sort of kit you should be looking at. our next training date is 13th june, post in the training section when the training list for that date comes out (should be soon) and let darren (dodgy) know what you want to do Ped

Thank you for the anwsers. If I can rent the equipment I would prefer to do so, at least the first time. How much does it cost the entry fee?

Might want to check out http://www.p8ntballer-forums.com. Every piece of kit I own is from that site and you'll find excellent deals on there. If it wasn't for that site I wouldn't be playing at the moment... Also you might want to do a tiny bit more research on Sup Air paintball as it's very different to woodsball paintball (like Ped mentioned earlier)

Haha Ped i remember your first training it was a tiny field as well Welcome to the forums athelard, as the others have said your best bet is to rent some gear from the training site and see how you get on. The majority of us started out in the woods and have not gone back since playing tournament ball! Any way if you have any other questions mate just post them up? I have got a pair of goggles (Dye i3 Pros) that are just sitting in my kit bag so if your interested mate im sure i will let them go for a small fee One last thing Ped i have edited your post below..... ..... "Most of the team have sexy ego's and those of us who cant see have DM's"

Well, I haven't played tournament and neither recreational, only once with co-workers at a recreational site, but if all of you started playing forest, maybe I should do that as well, or both. How did you played the rec games? Did you have a group of friends that always played in the same place or did you travel to the different walk-ons that play all over England? How do people usually do it? Why do you all prefer tournament to woods so much? Do you know what kind of equipment do they rent at your training site? 20 pounds seem too cheap, specially if they give you the kind of expensive marker that you use... Thank you

Hi there,
To start off with, You dont need to do woods sports first. It all depends on the person. But normaly we all do a corperate day and thats how we got into the woods first.
Basicaly its up to you what you want to do. Walk on are fun, more relaxed. Ive had some great days getting down and dirty. Then there is the bigger games with up to 700 a side. totaly mad days. You will need you own kit for this. Try the walkonzone web site you will find loads of info on this site for walkon paintball. Most players play at one site a month, But you can travel around for the bigger games.
Now tourney ball is a diffrent animal, You have high's and low's. Games can be over within 15 sec or run for 5 or 6 mins. Everthing you do matters, As its team work that makes winners.
The hire equipment is ok for what you need. If you decide to come down for the day and see what tourney ball is about. I would put you with other new players so you wont be put into the deep end. Then move players up the teams as they progress.
Hope this helps our next training day is on the 13th June
